Big Dance is a festival that aims to promote and celebrate the wide range of dance that is prevalent in England. The festival is nationwide and a number of events are arranged such as the world record-breaking salsa dance attempt that was attempted on Gateshead Quayside in 2008. Across London members of the National Youth Dance festival performed a host of shows and gave workshops and taster sessions in a whole variety of dance genres. People are encouraged to register their own Big Dance event online to join in the fun and advice on participating in and on how to organise event is also given on the website. Details of any Big Dance event will be published locally in London during your stay, so it is well worth keeping your eyes peeled in the local newspapers and on local television news bulletins to see if you can take part in this lively, energetic and fun filled festival.
