National Children’s Book week is a national celebration which is aimed purely at highlighting the benefits and enjoyment of reading and is designed to encourage children to nurture their enthusiasm for literature and spend more time reading. The event has been running for 77 years and is widely promoted the length and breadth of the country as well as in schools. Full details of the 2009 event are yet to be announced however most Children’s Book week’s tend to be based on a theme and the National Maritime Museum in London will celebrate the start of the week in 2009 in a similar vein with a whole host of activities and books which are sure to keep any children from age four upwards entertained and enthralled. Details of any scheduled events will be published on the website above throughout the year so it is advisable to log on to find out the latest information.
