London, like many cities in England, is home to a large number of people who have historic, family ties with the beautiful country of Ireland. So St Patrick’s Day is often one of the friendliest and funniest days of the entire year.
The festival is split into two parts; the parade and the festival. The parade sees many bands, groups, sports clubs, schools and community groups take to the streets of central London to celebrate anything vaguely Irish and is a wonderfully enjoyable spectacle for the whole family.
The festival takes place at three venues and celebrates many facets of Irish life, such as the Irish love for dance, music and poetry.
You can buy Irish craft and see it being made in time honoured, traditional ways. Irish food can be sampled, including for Dad, a taste of the old Liffey Water! The world famous Guinness! The St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival is a truly outstanding day and one which will no doubt inspire you to pay a future visit to this fantastically welcoming country.
When: 15th March every year. Where: Venues include Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Covent Garden
