Unfortunately due to the unexpected death of the Chairman of the Friends of Streatham common, Gordon Richardson during the summer of 2008, the group have reluctantly decided to take a break from organising this event until an appointment can be made to fill the considerable gap left by his sad passing. At the time of writing it is not known if this break will be permanent, or if the event will be revived in the future. It may be worthwhile to check back to this website before your visit to see if there is any update on the situation. An alternative event, the Blackheath Kite Festival has however been revived in a neighbouring locality and will take place on 13th-14th June 2009. So if you are a fan of kites and kite flying then this event may be your best chance to see kites in flight and to learn all about them during the next year or so.
