When?: 12th & 13th September 2009 Where?: Events are held at various points along the South Bank of the River Thames in Central London in an area stretching from Jubilee Gardens to Potters Fields Park. Good old Mayor Boris has once again organised the 2009 Mayor’s Thames Festival and once again it promises to be a fantastic weekend of events and a fantastic way to signify the end of summer feeling. The River Thames is central to the festival and there are a number of events aimed at families that celebrate the life and roots of those who have lived and worked alongside the Thames. There are river races held throughout the weekend as well as demonstrating and a pageant. The family is particularly well catered for with a whole host of activities across the weekend designed to keep youngsters entertained and amused. As with any festival, music plays a big part and this festival is the same with a wide variety of acts on show celebrating the area and its people and in addition to all this, there are special events arranged over the weekend just to add something a little different each year. All in all a fantastic couple of days for the family, whatever the weather!
