It's almost here! Half-term means fun--time away from school and more time having fun! You've found the most comprehensive London Half-Term resource for kids on the Web!

YARNFest is a new brand new festival celebrating storytelling. It's about fun and letting the imagination run wild. Here you can find a list of YARNFest events appropriate for children and families.

kids 6+ / £2 (with 1 grown-up per kid free)
Think you know fairytales? Think again! Come along to hear some Mixed Up Fairy Tales. Will Goldilocks kiss a frog? Will Aladdin get gobbled up by a wolf? Anything’s possible when you use your imagination! Then we’ll be making up our own Mixed Up characters and creating a jumbled up storytime of our own.

Fabulous Beasts...
Create an fantastic animal totem! Explore the images that are evoqued by the Sphinx, the Cheshire Cat, the Chimera or the Eastern Dragon. Sketch from life at the Natural History Museum. Use your sketches and create drawings of your Fabulous Beast. Experiment with simple 3D techniques and create a wonderful sculpture in mixed media.

This workshop coincides with the Myths and Monsters exhibition at the Horniman Museum. 3 days workshop open to young people aged 7 to 15 & limited to 6 participants.

Walk in Darwin’s footsteps for Darwin200 at ZSL London Zoo...
Celebrate Darwin200, the year of Darwin’s two hundredth birthday at ZSL London Zoo with a cool interactive trail. The trail has stops at various locations around the Zoo giving visitors plenty of fun opportunities to get involved in some of Darwin’s theories. Head for Gorilla Kingdom to make a ‘monkey of yourself’ and see just how closely related humans are to the great apes, and don’t forget to pay a visit to ZSL London Zoo’s giraffe house and discover why their necks really are so long.

Also at the zoo, check out the new baby elephant. A tiny baby elephant, standing just 3ft high, is the latest addition to the herd at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. Coming soon: Rainforest Life.

Dino Snores -- Sleep over at the Natural History Museum...
Find out what really goes on at the Museum when the staff and visitors have gone home. Dino Snores is suitable for children aged 8-11 years old. Children will take part is lots of fun activities. This is a night out that's sure to make your child happy! Acitvities include a torch-lit tour of a few famous galleries including the Dinosaurs; a live show about bugs by the museum's insect expert; and more. Next sleepover is 13 February 2010. Sorry, sold out. Sleepover begins at 19.00, ends 9.50 the following day. £45 per child, Members price £40.50

Come into the sweet shop with Hana Saotome and help create a fantastic and surreal ensemble contemporary dance piece inspired by the shapes, colours and personalities of different sweets. Learn to work together as a company and present a performance piece at the end of the week. Cost is £85.

BYTe Juniors take to the main stage once more during the February half term to bring their interpretation of three magical stories to life.

Journey with these young people into the realms of wondrous storytelling, and be inspired, challenged and entertained by the power of good theatre! Our very own home-grown Youth Theatre encourages you to laugh, cry and learn with them, as they take you on yet another flight of fancy.

Come along for a night of wonderful family entertainment - and support the hard work and talent of these local youngsters!

Join the Circus
A great way to spend the half-term holiday learning some new skills to show off to your family and friends!

Open to age range: 8 – 14 year olds

Skills: Walking Globe, Stilts, Unicycle, Juggling, Spinning Plates, Diabolo, Flower Stick, Rolla Rolla, Hula Hoop etc. As well as learning a few street dance routines and creating your costume for a show.

At the end of the week the participants can take part in a show and tell performance for families and friends.

You will need to bring a packed lunch with you and wear comfortable clothing that you can move in.
