February – May 09 This season at the Lyric Hammersmith there is something for everyone under 7 including a quacking Half Term show, wonderful holiday fun, intergalactic adventures and our exciting Saturday shows with tickets starting from only £6!
One not to miss is the Main House is Hang On: a high flying Easter treat for everyone to enjoy (even those who don’t like heights!) Suspended tantalizingly high above the Lyric stage, award-winning aerialists, Ockham’s Razor, and acclaimed children’s theatre company Theatre-Rites create a giant revolving mobile.

You’d be quackers to miss Half Term at the Lyric
With a waddle and a quack everyone is heading to the Lyric this February to see the Hans Christian Andersen tale The Ugly Duckling. This show’s blend of physical comedy, live music, dance and clear storytelling make it the perfect introduction to theatre for your little ducklings.
What a Wonderful World! Created by Lyngo 6 – 11 April (no performance on 10 April) Ages 2 – 6
Following their Lyric First, the acclaimed children’s theatre company Lyngo tackle the whole universe this Easter! Before anything new is made, it must first be dreamed. What would you like to see in tomorrow’s wonderful world? Hop on the sleeper train and dance with the stars as your dreams help them to make a show that is out of this world.
Lyngo’s trademark mix of imagination and the everyday combine to create a brand new show for children with Patrick Lynch from CBBC’s Razzledazzle.
Hang On Created by Theatre-Rites and Ockham’s Razor 15 – 25 April Ages 5+ / Adults from £15 / Children £10
Easter fun for all (even those who don’t like heights!)
Critically acclaimed theatre company Theatre-Rites - winners of the 2008 TMA Award for Achievement in Dance - join forces with award-winning aerialists Ockham’s Razor for a dizzying new family spectacular.
A tantalizingly high hanging-rig will be suspended above the Lyric stage as daring performers attempt to create a giant, spinning, human mobile for a live audience. During a journey both perilous and playful an international ensemble that includes an Italian juggler and Japanese Taiko drummer, will explore balance, boundaries, fear and bravery.
Directed by Theatre-Rites Artistic Director Sue Buckmaster with music composed by Olly Fox, Hang On mixes contemporary circus, movement, humour and live Japanese percussion from Nao Masuda to create a visceral delight for all the family. Theatre-Rites have been creating unique theatre for young people and adults since 1995 and are recognized as leaders in this field. They recently won a TMA Award for their 2007 production Mischief. Ockham’s Razor are an aerial theatre company, formed in just 2004 they have already developed a reputation for innovation and excellence. Their first full evening programme of work played to sell out houses as part of the London International Mime Festival in 2006.

Sun Dragon Created by Gomito 26 – 30 May Ages 3 +
Join five action-loving storytellers as they follow the adventures of Jacob, a boy who dreams of flying. Jacob has just one night to save a distant world from darkness. His quest starts in his back garden one blustery autumn evening and ends light years away on a planet full of magical creatures.
To save the day Jacob must face a wizard, a witch, four tricky traders and an oracle. Using his knowledge of science and his brilliant imagination he must overcome problems big and small to reach the greatest challenge of them all, the Sun Dragon.
Saturday shows The Lyric presents a full line up of Saturday shows in the Lyric Studio for very young children (from 3 months) through to 6 year-olds. Shows in January and February:
The Steadfast Tin Soldier Created by Banyan Theatre 17 Jan / 11am, 1pm / 50 mins Ages 3+
The Steadfast Tin Soldier tumbles from a window ledge and begins an adventure into the unknown… A charming adaptation of the traditional tale by Hans Christian Andersen told with puppetry, music and storytelling.
George and the Dragon Created by Garlic Theatre 24 Jan / 11am, 1pm / 45 mins Ages 5+
In a cave under the castle lurks a dragon waiting to devour monks, knights, sheep and princesses… Will brave George be bold enough to challenge the fiery dragon or will he run away? This award-winning show brings together a delicious mix of rod and glove puppetry, clowning and comedy.
Petrushka Created by Krazy Kat Theatre Company 31 Jan / 11am, 1pm / 50 mins Ages 3+
Set in an old Russian fair, Krazy Kat Theatre tell the story of a mysterious travelling showman and his magical puppets that come alive. Petrushka is the most unruly puppet of all. Packed with puppets, mime, dance, song, sign language and lots of laughs, don’t miss this new show from the creators of Clownderella.
The Dream Tree Created by Tam Tam Theatre 07 Feb / 11am, 1pm / 40 mins Ages 3+
Tortoise dreams of a miraculous tree, bearing all the fruits of the earth — but which animal will be clever enough to find it? The creators of Jabuti and Tiddalick are back with a new African tale that is ‘delightful… vividly told and had it’s very young audience gripped throughout’ (Time Out). With music and amazing puppets.
Hansel and Gretel Created by Lyngo Theatre 28 Feb / 11am, 1pm / 60 mins Ages 4+ Set off with Hansel and Gretel on a journey that takes them from a house with empty cupboards to a house made of sweets and then to someone who just loves children — on toast! Lyric favourites Lyngo with Patrick Lynch from Cbeebies Razzledazzle (also here for Easter) serve up a musical theatre treat with their own special recipe of performances and captivating songs.
