Pollock's Toy Museum
Pollock’s Toy Museum is named after Benjamin Pollock of toy theatre fame, opened in 1956 and demonstrates traditional examples of English toy theatre.
Toy theatre (or paper theatre) was popular in the 19th century. Toy theatre consisted of paper or wood theatres--some to extraordinary detail--accompanied by cut-out sheets which were used to create the scenery, props and various characters in the play. This allowed children to stage their own productions at home.
